Delegates of Japan District 2018 knew no bounds as they trekked the winding roads of Takayama, Japan to attend this year’s awaited Camp 2018 from May 2 to 6.
Amidst the long distance travel, everyone were energized with the glory of the Welcome Night Service highlighted by a special presentation from selected delegates and the powerful and inspiring Words of God ministered by our Beloved Goodman of the House and Apostle Arsenio T. Ferriol.
Though this great event was just beginning, everyone rejoiced with the overflowing grace and blessings of God’s empowerment.
Waking up in the cool breeze of spring in the Mountains of Takayama, the delegates were not hindered by the cold and cozy weather. Every morning , the campers unite to rally the ministry of prayer, for they fully understand that it is the most potent way to intercede not just our personal requests but also the lives of people for God. Ptr Thess Ferriol shared that faith, hope, patient endurance and prayer are the factors that will help us follow Christ’s suffering. She imparted a remarkable notion stating “ To see Christ suffer is not enough, our calling is to suffer with Him.” She also encouraged us to practice the “three times a day” prayer habit.
Dwelling on the theme, “Following Christ in suffering and glory”, words of empowerment were powerfully administered by each speaker. Bishop Jonathan Ferriol, discussed the Biblical understanding about Suffering. He reiterated that Christ’s suffering is redemptive and restorative. Presbyter Let Ferriol, in the next seminar, on the other hand, discussed the power of Christ’s suffering. She also tackled the sufferings that we usually encounter as we are serving the Lord.
From their words of encouragement, each camper effectively learned the glorious ending of those who follow and suffer for Christ’s sake. They were challenged to accept and embrace these sufferings as it is an indication of a true believer of Christ.
Another highlight of this year’s Golden Camp is the Flock night. This friendly competition showcased the God-given talents prepared by each locale church. The Goodman of the House, Our Beloved Apostle Arsenio T. Ferriol, motivated each camper to utilize their gifts and talents as much for the glory of the Lord.
Truly God’s goodness overflows in His Church. Seminars were simultaneously held. We had one for the Parents/ Adult, another one for the Young Watchers and another for the Ministers. After the empowering number of seminars in the morning, the 3rd day was also packed with preaching contests for Japanese and Filipino.
In the evening was the AIT and MBS Night – where those brethren who selflessly devoted their lives for God’s will & who accepted the challenge of the ministry were recognized. The Volunteers for Christ Mission (VFCM), Associate in Theology and Maranatha Bible Students were applauded as they marched for the processional. Moreover, a Special Presentation entitled “OIJIRU” (TUGON) was performed followed by an exceptional song rendition of “We are the Light” with a Spoken poetry from the selected Young Watchers. Bishop Jonathan Ferriol , pointed out in his message “The Place of Greatest Impact.” He decoded truthful words about the place where we can start making the greatest impact and expounded strategies on how to make a difference. He also pointed out a remarkable concept, that if anyone would like to witness the most spectacular experience, he doesn’t need to look further but only to be with God. Stay in the Church for it is the perfect place where we can make this great impact, because God has something great in stored for us.
This District Camp rejuvenated every camper not only the spiritual aspect but also the physical and mental. After the inspiringly compelling words of God delivered by our Speakers in the morning Seminar, the Fellowship Hour in the afternoon was fun filled with enthusiasm and joy. Each locale prepared yells to creatively introduce their respective locale churches. Each camper actively participated in various parlor games set to strengthen the fellowshipping and camaraderie of the campers from different locale churches.
This year’s Golden Camp will never be complete without the Dedication Night, for it is the moment wherein each camper uttered their vows of commitment to God, and put into action whatever they have received through His words. The service started with a processional march of the Japan District leaders, starting with the Flock leaders with their assistants, the ministry leaders, department officers and the Church Elders.
The Goodman of the House, Apostle Arsenio Ferriol, motivated us to desire for more sufferings for Christ’s sake. In that way, we will be able to partake in the glory that will be revealed in His return.
Concluding this year’s Golden Camp is the Grand Worship which completes the nourishment that each camper needs to receive through His words. Bishop Jonathan Ferriol expounded the truths about the Period of the Greatest Impact. He inspiringly compelled us to find the perfection of our faith, challenging us to let Christ visible in every aspect of our lives.
Camp plays a vital role in the lives of every believer, for it surely moves us deeply to the next level of our faith. To God be the Glory! (R. Calalo)
