Is the Bible a Reliable Thing to Believe in?

One of the proofs that the Bible contains the truth is the Prophecy. The prophecies in the Bible shall certainly happen and several of these prophecies already had. This is an evidence of the Bible’s reliability. Enough example of this is the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. We use this as an example for it is known by many.

The prophecy in the Bible about our Lord’s place of birth was Bethlehem. Jesus’ birth was already prophesied in the Bible hundreds of years before it happened. Prophet Micah foretold our Lord’s birthplace (Micah 5:2). If we are to imagine, it was impossible for Jesus to be born in Bethlehem for when Mary was about to give birth, they were in Nazareth, a Galilean province. Bethlehem is a Judean province and in between the two mentioned provinces was Samaria.

The occurrence of our Lord’s birth was almost impossible to happen for in that time, transportation was too difficult especially for a pregnant woman. Still, the prophecy has been fulfilled that our Lord shall be born in Bethlehem. So when the three magi asked as to where will Christ be born, they consulted the book of the prophets (Matthew 2:5-6).

The prophecies are strong evidences that whatever is stated in the Holy Scripture shall happen. Another proof that the Bible is reliable and trustworthy is that the words therein are very powerful and life-changing. This is the only book that guarantees a positive change in one’s life as he or she believes or holds faith in the contents of it. Stated in I Peter 1:21-22:

“Who by Him do believe in God, that raised Him up from the dead, and gave Him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:”

We know that millions of people testify that only the Word of God really contains the life from our Lord Jesus Christ. And whoever believes shall experience transformation in his life however bad has he been or however opposite were his deeds from the will of God for it is stated in the Bible that whoever is in Christ, he is a new being.
