Learn and Teach

It has been rightly said that “you cannot give what you do not have”. This is very true in teaching. Before you can teach you must possess the truth. Before you can teach about God you must have received the truth, you must know God. How can you know God? Can one know God by reading books about Him?

Should one make an extensive research to know Him? The Bible is very explicit on this matter; “…..no one knows who the Son is except the Father and who the Father is except the Son and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.”- Luke 10:22

God can only be known through revelation. We cannot know God by reading books about Him, nor by conducting extensive research. He cannot be known through human effort, ability, or intelligence. We can only know him when he stoops to our level and unveils his Godhood to us. In the Old testament God revealed himself to the prophets (Amos 3:7). In the New Testament God’s revelation of his mysteries are made to his apostles (Ephesians 3:4-5). There is too much confusion today among so called “Christians” about so many things, especially on the most important teaching on the Lord Jesus Christ. Some teach that he is the Father; others say that he is only a man; still others say that when the Jews rejected Him in Jerusalem, He came to the Philippines and was born a Filipino and His Kingdom now is in Tamayong Davao. There is a belief that there is part of Christ that never grew to manhood and remained to be a child.

All these teaching indications only one thing that these had not been taught of the Lord! They have never received revelation from the Lord. They have taught according to the wisdom of men and not of God. The Bible is very clear on this matter,

“But the prophet who presumes to speaks a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak or who speaks in the name of others gods. That prophet shall die. When a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord if the thing does not happen or come to pass; that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; that prophet has spoken it presumptuously, you shall not be afraid of him. ” Furthermore, 2 John 1:10 – 11 says:

“If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.”

We are commanded by the Word of God to avoid teachers and preachers who have not been taught of the Lord. For the simple reason that they will only lead us away from the truth. They are not to be left in our houses, may it be through the radio, television, reading materials or in person. We are not to be partakers of their evil deeds. On the other hand, we should constantly seek the Word spoken by his Sent Ones. “As new born babes desire the pure milk of the word that you may grow thereby.”- 1 Peter 2:2

And to us who have learned through ministry of God’ s Sent One, the mantle of the ministry in teaching the Word rests on our shoulders. We have been made watchmen to warn one and all of the second coming of the Lord. We should hasten to finish this stupendous task before that day comes! Therefore AWAKE for the day is at hand, in fact it’s much, much near than we think!
