Church anniversaries are significant milestone in the lives of the leaders and members of the church congregation. It is an occasion to showcase the growth of the church and its various ministries and to acknowledge the faithfulness of God in fulfilling His promise and His steadfast love for His people. Celebrating church anniversaries and extending the invitation to non-members and to the public at large is an excellent way of reaching out to the unreached non-believer of the power of God.
Some of the residents of the Congregational Tower of Chula Vista, including myself, were very fortunate to have attended the 25th church anniversary of the Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ (4th watch) of San Diego, a heart-warming and spirit-filled event held at the Jacob Center last Saturday, July 15.
It was an afternoon to remember for all of us- we have been touched by the awesome praise and worship led by Pastor Levi Ferriol, the Children’s Ministry presentation, the harmonious blending of voices of the San Diego Praise Chorale and the Tower of Praise Chorale, and most of all the powerful message of Evangelist Leticia Ferriol, one of the founders of the Church.
I’ve met many women of God during my stint as World Secretary of the World Federation of Methodist Woman (1991-96), traveling to more than 50 countries in the South Pacific, East Asia, Europe, North America, and South America and listening to women from Africa and I would count Evangelist Leticia Ferriol as one of the most powerful speakers. My use of term “powerful” connotes that the speaker can shake your complacency, change your unbelief, and touch your life. After listening to a powerful speaker of the Gospel, you look into your own heart, re-asses your relationship with God, and ponder on your own beliefs. Do you really have a personal relationship with God and His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ? Do you have a solid foundation of your knowledge and belief in God?
To those who are still in limbo about their faith, PMCC (4th watch) of San Diego offer an invitation for you to attend the church’s regular bi-weekly Bible Study, weekly prayer meetings. Sunday Services, Daily Devotion and Family Devotion every Saturday at 8:00am. The church is located at 2410 E. 8th Street, National City, CA 91950.
Congratulations to Pastors Joseph and Genolyn Concepcion for their leadership in planning and organizing the event. Their hopes and prayers that the event will be a blessing to us, were definitely answered. We saw and felt God’s grace and power in sustaining the PMCC (4th Watch) of San Diego for the past 25 years.
We were impressed by the gracious and caring attitude of the church members as they welcomed us and as they attended to our transportation needs. After the service, we were invited to a sumptuous dinner in one of the eat-all-you-can buffet restaurants. Indeed, my husband and I with a friend, are very thankful to Bro. Robert Guerrero, Music Minister, who despite his busy involvement in the anniversary program, took time to pick us up at the Congregational Tower. He later took us to the restaurant where we filled our physical bodies with good food. But nothing, yes nothing filled us more than the music and the Word of God that we heard at the church anniversary program. To God be the glory!(Aurora S. Cudal-Rivera)
